User-Facing Guide

What you will find here

The HumanProof Registry is a searchable public directory of writing where we have found specific evidence of human authorship. You can search for individual works (articles, essays, posts, books), for authors (writers with a demonstrated human voice), or for publications (outlets and blogs with a sustained human editorial practice).

Everything in this directory has been reviewed by HPR’s editors. Nothing is included by algorithm. Nothing is included by institutional prestige alone. Every entry has a documented reason for being here.

You will find:

  • Journalism: investigative reports, long-form features, media criticism, columns, and essays from a wide range of outlets, major and independent
  • Blogs and personal essays: independent bloggers and essayists with long, verifiable publishing histories
  • Newsletters: Substack, Ghost, and independent email newsletters with identifiable human voices and multi-year track records
  • Social media: specific Substack Notes posts and LinkedIn articles by writers with verifiable professional histories
  • Books and long-form work: selected non-fiction and literary works with verifiable human authorship
  • Academic writing: selected papers and essays by scholars with long pre-AI publication records

You will not find:

  • Anonymous content without verifiable authorship
  • Content from publications found to use undisclosed AI
  • Aggregated or largely derivative content
  • Works created after 2022 by authors with no prior verifiable track record
  • Everything: the registry is curated, not comprehensive. Absence does not imply AI authorship.

What the badges mean

Recognised: HPR’s editors reviewed this entry and found that the work, author, or publication demonstrates stylistic consistency with a documented pre-AI body of work. Editorial review found no credible evidence of AI generation and positive evidence of a human creative practice.

Certified: In addition to editorial review, the author or publication submitted process documentation (drafts, revision history, notes) that was independently verified by HPR’s peer reviewers. Certified entries carry the strongest evidence of human authorship available in the registry.
